Protected Roof Membrane System (PMR)

PMRs offer superior protection of the roof membrane from foot traffic and mechanical damage.

Protected Membrane Roof (PMR) systems are also referred to by a number of different names including inverted roof membrane assemblies (IRMA) and ‘upside-down’ roof assemblies. In a PMR, the system’s insulation is installed above the waterproofing membrane, instead of below as in a conventional roof assembly. The membrane is further protected by ballast overtop the insulation.

PMRs can be constructed with virtually any type of roof membrane, including BUR, modified bitumen.
